Whether there is actual, threatened or potential litigation, or you need help with your business or personal matters, we first just need to know the names of all potential parties so that we can ensure we have no conflict in the representation. If we represent a party adverse to you and you then all information provided before we have a written engagement will be used for representing our client. There is never a fee for an initial consultation. Every engagement will be in writing, so that our arrangement is clearly understood.
Depending on the engagement, we offer an hourly rate, a flat rate, or a contingency-fee arrangement. Lawyers and paralegals keep detailed logs of the time spent for each client. For hourly rate engagement, we typically count in six or fifteen minute increments and bill monthly for professional time and pre-paid expenses. Certain invoices for expenses will be forwarded to the client for direct payment within 30 days; otherwise, expenses will be included in the next monthly invoice. If we are working for a flat fee or on a contingency fee basis, sometimes we will be responsible for pre-paid expenses, and that will be clearly stated on our written engagement.
We never charge for facsimile or long distance telephone calls made within the United States.
